DR. CORNELIUS MTAKI
 

Dr. Mtaki is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and a member of the Tanganyika Law Society.  As an Advocate he has carried out extensive solicitor work for both local and foreign clients including higher learning institutions.  He has held a succession of academic and administrative posts, interspersed with professional appointments and experience, together totaling 26 years.  Dr. Mtaki has wide experience in the legal and labour matters having lectured at the National Institute of Transport for about 10 years and the University of Dar es Salaam from 2000 to date.  He has also undertaken a number of studies for the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Communication and Transport, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Local Governments and the University of Dar es Salaam and the Association of Tanzania Employers. Dr. Mtaki is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Dar es Salaam. 

He was Editor of the High Court Digest and the Law Reports of Tanzania. As a Senior Lecturer in Law Dr. Mtaki specializes in Company, Commercial and Constitutional Law.  He did his Ph D in Environmental Law focusing on industrial waste management.  He has supervised under and postgraduate researches in natural resources, water pollution,  environment  law, company liquidations, banking law, labour law, constitution and legal systems etc.

Dr. Mtaki is an expert in labour laws having involved in number of high profile national and international assignments such  as Leading  National Consultant: Zanzibar Labour Law Reform Project; Client; Ministry of Labour, Women and Children. (`in progress), Local Consultant (with 4 others): Tanzania Labour Policy and Legislation Reform;  Client; Ministry of Labour, Sports and Youths Development, Consultant:  Compilation of Labour Law Cases from the Industrial Court of Tanzania 1980 – 2001 and the High Court of Zanzibar 1985 – 2001; Client, ILO/SLAREA, Area Office, Dar Es Salaam just to mention few
